Chronic Illness and the Workplace: Reducing Stigma, Enhancing Support

Although Ellen does not have a chronic illness, they actively support their wife, Dr. Anna Casper, who does. This session will focus on reducing the stigma often faced by individuals with chronic illnesses and exploring practical ways to support them both in the workplace and during health-related absences. Additionally, we will address the unique challenges faced by employees who are also caregivers for loved ones, highlighting key considerations for creating a supportive work environment for them as well.

  • Understanding Chronic Illness and the barriers and impact (employment and unemployment)
  •   Addressing stigma and shame around Chronic Illness
  •   Creating a Supportive Workplace Environment (policies, managering, occupational health, colleague to colleague)
  •   Supporting Employees During Health-Related Absences
  •   Supporting Caregivers in the Workplace
