Lifetime Achiever Award

Deborah’s work as a disabled artist spanned 20 years. She was in the BAFTA winning film ‘Dream On’ and was the first and only black disabled artist to present at the international arts showcase Decibel. She started her own company leading in the development of disabled people as curators and producers of their own work, meaning that stereotypes were reimagined, sincere and authentic. Deborah moved into cultural policy working for Arts Council England, and British Film Institute where she created the BFI diversity standards and other initiatives that transformed these industries. In both of these organisations she was the highest-ranking disabled person. In her current role as CEO of the Creative Diversity Network, Deborah is transforming UK broadcasting and leading on the initiative to double the percentage of disabled people working in the freelance supply chain by 2020.
